End of Life Care
Euthanasia literally means “good death”.

With in-home euthanasias, we strive to provide a peaceful and comfortable passing for your pet in the comfort of their own environment.
While euthanasia is always a difficult decision, it is one we feel strongly is a kindness providing your pet with a peaceful goodbye and relieving any pain or suffering.
What to Expect with an In Home Euthanasia
For in home euthanasia appointments, we come to your home so we can be wherever you and your pet are most comfortable – in their bed in the office, outside under their favourite tree, on their spot on the couch, where ever their happy place is. There are a few logistics and paperwork that must be taken care of first – typically this is when we can collect payment and answer any questions you have about the procedure or aftercare & cremation.
We provide all our patients with sedation and anesthesia prior to euthanasia. Every animal responds differently to these medications and they can take 10 - 20 minutes to take effect, with our goal being to comfortably and peacefully calm your pet into an anesthetic-level sleep so that they are no longer able to feel any pain. Once we have reached this point, the doctor will administer the final injection to provide euthanasia and give you time to say goodbye.

Memorial keepsakes can be provided – ink and clay paw prints, fur clippings – let us know if you have any preferences.

Cremation
We use VHA Cremation Services who are accredited by the International Association of Pet Cemeteries and Crematories.

We offer two types of cremation:
-
Communal - your pet is cremated communally with no ashes returned to you
-
Separate – your pet is cremated separately with their ashes returned to you
